Carbon County residents choose to underfund local EMS services (for now), a former local pol & racist denies the reality of climate change, NorthWestern Energy shenanigans & more from the Sept 21 CC News…

County residents, in a low-turnout election with a confusing ballot, choose to keep funding for local EMS at 2010 levels, despite the tremendous growth in Carbon County in the past several years. Hopefully, another election with a ballot with clear wording, held after a campaign to educate voters on the importance of adequately funding ambulance services in the county, will take care of the problem. Otherwise, perhaps we could have two tiers of ambulance service. High quality for those who voted to support first responders in Carbon County and a second tier, with service provided at 2010 levels (response time, technology and etc.) for those who don’t support EMS in Carbon County.

Local Democrats hosted former state Senator Mary McNally, who outlined NorthWestern Energy’s plans to soak Montana’s ratepayers, as well as pursue outdated and expensive energy sources.

Former Carbon County state Senator and racist (https://montananewsguild.org/2021/06/11/racist-letter-to-the-editor-exposes-problems-at-the-billings-gazette-and-lee-enterprises/) Alvin Ellis, Jr, a far-right extremist/Republican, provides a ludicrous rant on climate change in the letters to the editor section of the paper. His letter begins, “The climate crisis is a fraud.” It then takes readers on a wild and unhinged ride, detached from reality. He even managed to fit in the goofy extreme right-wing obsession with “Marxism.” Matt Rosendale must love Mr. Ellis. We wonder if he thinks the Earth is flat and whether or not he really thinks wow landed on the moon.
