Carbon County’s news aggregator site, Montana Independent News, continues its obsession with criticizing Red Lodge’s former mayor and Red Lodge’s latest attraction, an observatory that will serve both locals and tourists…

The Montana Independent News, publishing via Substack, recently took a swipe at the former mayor with a sub-headline of “Sets a new tone of cooperative management representing the will of the citizens” when “reporting” on the new mayor’s (Dave Westwood) first city council meeting, as though the former mayor’s tone was different. Then another edition of the Montana Independent News’ Substack publication used a headline, promoting its “coverage” of the Red Lodge City Council, that included “Preventing Another Whistler Observatory Situation,” as though the observatory is not welcome in Red Lodge, despite its broad appeal to locals and tourists (as pointed out in a recent Carbon County News article). When it comes to news not provided by other sources, the Montana Independent News should strive for greater professionalism and less bias than it is currently demonstrating.
